Seven Startups Chosen for Big Idea Ventures’ Latest Global Food Innovation Fund Cohort

Big Idea Ventures has selected seven new startups for its Global Food Innovation Fund II, focusing on innovative solutions in food technology. These companies are working on developing sustainable ingredients, new preservation techniques, and alternative oils and fats to address pressing challenges in the food system. Each startup will have access to mentorship, R&D resources, and commercialization opportunities through BIV.

Among the startups in the latest cohort, Abydos Biosciences is developing clean-label oil and fat alternatives through precision fermentation, while Motai Group is creating sustainable cocoa alternatives by fermenting Amazonian superfruits. The program is backed by industry players such as AAK, Bühler, Puratos, and Pfeifer & Langen, aiming to drive advancements in food technology and strengthen food security. The focus on fermentation and plant-based technologies positions these startups to lead the transition towards a more sustainable global food system.
