Atlanta-based plant-based burger chain Slutty Vegan has signed a franchise agreement to open its first Michigan location in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. The site at 1441 W Elizabeth Street is expected to open later this year, pending the completion of buildout. The franchisee for this location, Obinani Iwuoha, has nearly a decade of experience in the food and beverage industry and has lived in the Detroit metro area for 20 years.

Founder and CEO Pinky Cole Hayes stated that expanding into Detroit is a significant move for the brand, highlighting the city's resilience and boldness that align with Slutty Vegan's mission. Following financial restructuring in 2025, the company shifted to a franchise model, allowing for continued expansion in various markets including Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Cole Hayes emphasized the importance of working with experienced multi-unit operators to drive growth rather than focusing solely on company-owned locations.
