Sodexo: Ahead of Schedule on Net Zero Plan as 11% of All UK/Ireland Meals Sold Are Meatless

French catering group Sodexo is making significant progress towards its net-zero targets, with 11% of all meals sold at UK and Ireland sites in 2023 being vegan or vegetarian. This marks a slight increase from the previous year, with popular plant-based dishes such as Japanese Teriyaki Tofu driving the growth in plant-based consumption. Sodexo's commitment to making 33% of its menus plant-based by 2025 is part of its wider net-zero plan for 2040, which the company says it is currently ahead of schedule on.

In addition to promoting plant-based meals, Sodexo has also reduced 37% of its scope 3 emissions and set science-based targets for further reductions. The company's plant-based initiatives align with global trends towards sustainable catering, with universities and other catering companies also making the shift towards more climate-friendly menus. Sodexo's efforts to increase plant-based options not only support environmental goals but also contribute to providing nutritious and planet-friendly meals to consumers.
