Solar Foods has chosen Selkäharju, Lappeenranta, Finland as the location for its first industrial-scale production facility, Factory 02. With a significantly increased capacity of 6,400 tons per year compared to Factory 01's 160 tons, the final investment decision is expected in 2026. The site offers exceptional electricity supply opportunities, possibilities for integration into the city's district heating network, and other favorable factors such as renewable energy pricing and infrastructure reliability.

The construction of Factory 02 will be carried out in phases with strategic partners handling aspects such as real estate, hydrogen production, and electricity grids to reduce financing needs. Solar Foods also plans to establish an international network of Solein production facilities in various locations worldwide. The company has signed agreements with international customers reflecting a total annual production commitment exceeding the capacity of Factory 02, showcasing the growing demand for Solar Foods' air-based protein.
