SunOpta Lifts Network Capacity 10% With $35M Texas Line for Plant-Based Milks and Creamers

SunOpta has opened a new production line at its beverage plant in Midlothian, Texas, with a $35 million investment. This new line is expected to increase the company's manufacturing capacity by 10% across its network. The plant produces plant-based milks, creamers, and tea for various customers in the retail and foodservice industries, allowing SunOpta to better serve existing clients and take on new ones by expanding its product offerings.

The new line at the Midlothian facility will include half-gallon cartons and 32-ounce Edge-style packs in addition to the existing formats. This expansion will enable the plant to supply more retail and club channels, where plant-based milks compete directly with traditional dairy products. Since being acquired by Dutch beverage group Refresco earlier this year, SunOpta has focused on strengthening its capabilities to support customers with scale, flexibility, and reliability for the future. With a commitment to sustainability, the Midlothian plant also incorporates water reuse equipment and energy-efficient HVAC systems to reduce environmental impact.
