Swedish Pea Milk Brand Sproud Launches at Sainsbury’s Stores Across the UK

Swedish pea milk brand Sproud has announced that its products will be available at 193 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK starting from August 10. The retailer will stock three of Sproud’s milk alternatives - Barista, Barista Zero, and Unsweetened, with the latter two being free of sugars.

Made from yellow split peas, Sproud’s milk alternatives are said to have a better nutritional profile compared to other dairy alternatives like oat milk. The products are high in protein, low in sugar, and free of major allergens. Sproud is also recognized as the lowest-carbon milk alternative brand by the carbon accounting platform CarbonCloud. The company has seen significant demand in the UK, with products already available on platforms like Ocado, Amazon, and at various restaurants and coffee bars.

Sara Berger, the CEO of Sproud, expressed excitement about the brand’s expansion into Sainsbury’s, stating that it is a significant step forward in providing UK consumers with a healthy and sustainable dairy alternative. With a recent investment from Lantmännen Biorefineries, a minor stakeholder in Sproud, the brand looks forward to introducing its products to new customers and becoming a staple in daily routines for many across the UK.
