Taiwanese Government Establishes Plant Milk Research and Development Center

The Taiwanese Food Industry Research and Development Institute has established a Plant Milk Research and Development Center in partnership with the drink company Ai Zhi Wei. The center aims to develop plant-based milk products, improve Taiwan's supply chain for agricultural products, and explore biotechnology to create protein-rich milk alternatives with enhanced nutritional value. Ai Zhi Wei will collaborate with FIRDI to create innovative and nutritious plant-based milk products to meet the growing demand for plant-based milk globally.

The Plant Milk R&D Center is part of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs' initiatives to promote alternative proteins. Grassroots movements in Taiwan have been advocating for plant-based diets, with successful efforts including over 100 political candidates signing a Veg-Friendly pledge and the approval of a climate bill promoting low-carbon diets focused on plant-based foods. These initiatives reflect Taiwan's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the food industry.
