Texas’ First Vegan Butcher Shop Will Reopen in San Antonio This December

HapPea Vegans, Texas’ first vegan butcher shop, is set to reopen in San Antonio this December after closing their food truck in August. Founded in 2018 by Leah Drones and Javier Balderas, the business gained popularity for its innovative plant-based meats made in-house from simple ingredients. The new brick-and-mortar butcher shop in San Antonio will continue to offer indulgent vegan Southern food options such as vegan turkey legs, barbecue plates, po’boys, deli sandwiches, and fried pickles.

The official menu for the HapPea Vegans butcher shop has yet to be announced, but customers can expect a variety of plant-based meats, comfort food dishes, and the fan-favorite vegan fried chicken. Located in the Southtown neighborhood of San Antonio, the restaurant will provide vegan and palm oil-free options, with soy-free choices also available.
