The upcoming Emmys will mark the first major awards show to implement a fur-free red carpet policy. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) announced that both the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast will be fur-free this year. Guests who arrive wearing animal fur will be asked to remove it before entry to comply with the new policy.

The decision to ban fur at the Emmys came after discussions with the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT). CAFT praised the move as a progressive and compassionate step towards a more ethical fashion and entertainment industry. Other organizations, such as the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and luxury brand Rick Owens, have also taken steps to eliminate fur from their platforms, signaling a trend towards more cruelty-free practices in the industry.
