The European Project ‘It’s Bio’ in Dialogue with Roberto Pinton: “Organic Agriculture Provides Public Goods”

Roberto Pinton, an organic expert, emphasizes the importance of organic agriculture beyond food production. Organic farming provides public goods by protecting the environment, animal welfare, and promoting clean employment. With half of Italian soils lacking organic substances, a shift to organic farming is crucial in the face of climate challenges and declining agricultural companies.

The It’s Bio project, funded by the EU and Aop Gruppo Vi.Va, aims to promote European quality production through organic certification. Despite challenges like inflation and price increases, consumer awareness is growing, reflected in the increased presence of organic products in retail. Pinton calls for urgent action, including food and environmental education in schools, communication campaigns, and shared responsibility between organic producers and the public sector to ensure a sustainable future.
