The Middle East Vegan Society Launches Vegan Islam Initiative

The Middle East Vegan Society recently launched its Vegan Islam Initiative, aiming to educate the public on veganism, Islam, and their shared values. Led by activist Fawziya Jaffan and other Muslim animal rights advocates, the initiative provides a comprehensive guide in both English and Arabic.

Muslim communities, representing nearly a quarter of the world's population, are underrepresented in the plant-based movement, something the Middle East Vegan Society hopes to change. The organization believes there is a lack of awareness about issues like factory farming, environmental damage, and animal welfare in the Middle East and North Africa region. By clarifying common areas of confusion and highlighting the compatibility of a plant-based lifestyle with Islam, the Vegan Islam Initiative aims to bridge the gap and provide a valuable resource for all interested parties.
