The banquet included vegetables, plant foods, seafood, eggs, and other animal ingredients, making it pescatarian rather than vegetarian. King Charles III welcomed his guests with an opening greeting in Yoruba and highlighted the UK's Nigerian community as a "living bridge" between the two nations.

The menu for the banquet included vegetarian starters and an alcohol-free cocktail named "Crimson Bloom," inspired by the Nigerian Chapman punch. The meal was adapted to accommodate fasting Muslim guests during Ramadan, with a meat-free menu to ensure the entire banquet was suitable for all attendees. King Charles, known for championing environmental causes, has also made changes to his diet such as giving up red meat during cancer treatment in 2024 and limiting his dairy intake to reduce his carbon footprint.
