UK-based organic tofu brand, The Tofoo Co Ltd, has acquired German plant-based producer Topas GmbH, known for its Wheaty brand of organic seitan products. This acquisition marks a significant step in The Tofoo Co's European growth strategy, aiming to expand its presence in Germany and further diversify its natural protein portfolio. With plans to accelerate growth of the Wheaty brand in its home market, expand international distribution, and introduce new opportunities in the UK, this strategic move aligns with The Tofoo Co's commitment to high-quality, organic plant-based foods.

The acquisition will also provide The Tofoo Co with a strong local foundation in Germany ahead of its planned launch into the market in 2026. Topas will continue to operate from its Stuttgart base, maintaining its focus on organic production and quality while benefiting from The Tofoo Co's expertise in brand-building, innovation, and route-to-market. With Sebastian von Eltz appointed as Managing Director of Topas, the company aims to further strengthen and expand Wheaty's position in the organic and mainstream grocery retail channels, while the existing Managing Directors remain closely involved in product development and organizational matters.
