An international consortium of agricultural businesses and alternative protein experts is working to design and build the world’s first cultivated meat farm in the Netherlands. The CRAFT Consortium, which includes organizations such as RespectFarms, Wageningen University & Research, and Mosa Meat, has received €2 million in funding to support this innovative project. The model aims to integrate cultivated meat production into existing farm operations, diversifying output, reducing reliance on animal protein, and lowering environmental impacts.



By involving farmers and utilizing a farmer-led and locally embedded approach, the CRAFT Consortium aims to show that alternative proteins can benefit the struggling agricultural sector rather than being a threat. The project seeks to address the negative environmental impacts of animal farming, promote sustainability, and provide a more equitable food system for all stakeholders involved. With the growing interest in alternative proteins and cultivated meat production, this initiative represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and ethical food system.
