Finnish oat-based cheese startup Mö Foods, founded by sisters who were raised on a dairy farm, has secured €2.4M ($2.8M) in funding to support its European expansion. The sisters, Annamari Jukkola and Marjaana Vuorio, founded the company a decade ago out of a desire to modernize the dairy industry in response to the climate crisis, using oats as a sustainable alternative.

Mö Foods, which has already gained recognition for its oat milk innovations, plans to use the funding to increase manufacturing volumes and expand its production footprint across Europe. The company's focus on sustainability is reflected in its use of zero-waste technology and Finnish oats, which offer significant reductions in emissions, water consumption, and land use compared to traditional dairy products. Additionally, Mö Foods is looking to license its technology to major European food producers in order to accelerate the adoption of plant-based cheese products.
