This New Vegan Milk Brand In India Has Its Own Sanctuary For Rescuing Cows

India's new vegan plant milk brand, Dancing Cow, is committed to rescuing and rehoming cows from the dairy sector at its proprietary farm sanctuary. Its first product release, Oatish, is a combination dairy-free milk made from oats, millet, and mung beans. For every 10,000 liters sold, one cow or milking buffalo will be freed and allowed to live the rest of their life in peace at the sanctuary. Additionally, for every 10 liters sold, Dancing Cow will add 10 bricks to its sanctuary site, creating space for more rescued animals in India. The brand also plants trees and donates a percentage of profits to a non-profit organization.

Dancing Cow aims to eradicate dairy animal exploitation one cow at a time while positively impacting the environment and human health. Oatish has 81% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than cow milk production, requires 67% less energy, and contains 60% fewer calories. The plant milk comes in two flavors, is vegan, gluten-free, and fortified to provide essential vitamins and calcium. India's dairy industry, highlighted by the recent documentary Maa Ka Doodh, lacks sufficient welfare protection for the millions of dairy cattle in the country, leading to concerns about animal welfare and environmental impacts.
