The Time-travelling Milkman, NIZO Food Research, and Duynie have received EU funding to develop sustainable plant-based ingredients from sunflower seeds. The project aims to create environmentally friendly alternatives for plant-based food products using innovative sunflower-based ingredients such as OleoCream, OleoPowder, and SunPulp. By combining science, technology, and circular economy principles, the partners hope to make sustainable plant-based foods more accessible to consumers while promoting healthier food choices.

Through the collaboration, the partners will work towards scaling up the technology to reach an industrial capacity of 10,000 tons of OleoCream per year. Utilizing a holistic approach, the project integrates circular economy principles to minimize waste and optimize resource efficiency. With specialized expertise from each partner, including extraction, optimization, and valorization of co-products, the initiative is expected to have significant ecological, economic, and social impacts while supporting sustainable agricultural practices and improving consumer accessibility to plant-based ingredients.
