Tofoo & Co to Double Tofu Production & Support £73M in Sales with New Plant Protein Factory

Tofoo & Co, a UK plant protein brand, is expanding its tofu production by building a new facility that will double its capacity and support annual sales of £73M. The new manufacturing plant in North Yorkshire is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2027 and will enable the company to surpass 10,000 tonnes of tofu production by 2033. Supported by HSBC UK and majority shareholder Comitis Capital, this expansion is part of the company's strategy to meet the growing demand for whole-food proteins like tofu and tempeh in the UK and Europe.

The new factory will not only increase production capacity but also create opportunities for product innovation, customer engagement, and sustainability. With a focus on resource efficiency and eco-friendly manufacturing practices, the facility will feature measures such as wastewater reduction, on-site solar generation, and heat recovery systems. Tofoo & Co's investment in this new plant reflects its commitment to long-term growth and competitiveness within the plant-based protein market, which has seen a significant increase in sales amidst consumer concerns about ultra-processed foods.
