Two Thirds Of Brits Unaware Of ‘Hidden Meat’ In Sweets, Study Finds

A recent survey in the UK revealed that 67 percent of Brits were not aware that many sweets contain animal body parts like gelatin, which is commonly used as a stabilizer and thickening agent. This lack of awareness was found to be concerning to many respondents, with 35 percent expressing disgust upon learning about the hidden ingredients in their favorite treats.

As Halloween approaches and Brits prepare to spend over £1 billion on candies, it is important for consumers to be informed about the ingredients in their sweets. Vegan alternatives like agar-agar and carrageenan are available for those who wish to enjoy cruelty-free treats. The survey also found that nine in 10 respondents believe that there should be more transparency in labeling gelatin, with many willing to boycott brands that do not disclose this information.
