Uganda’s ‘First Vegan School’ Scoops International Compassion Award

The vegan Atlas Community School in Uganda has been honored with the TeachKind Compassionate School Award for upholding vegan values and promoting kindness and empathy towards animals. The award included a $1,000 donation, valuable classroom resources, and books centered around themes of compassion. The funds will go towards the school's running costs and teaching materials for their vegan outreach program.

In addition to the TeachKind award, the Atlas School also received a $250 mini-grant from the animal protection organization, In Defense of Animals, for their efforts in supporting animal rights and fostering a compassionate future world. The school aims to educate younger generations about the health benefits of veganism and the dangers of zoonotic infections commonly associated with meat consumption, such as tapeworms and brucellosis. Through their work, they hope to spread awareness about the need to abolish animal agriculture to prevent further health crises.
