UK Broker Refuses to Insure Animal-Based Businesses as THIS Co-Founder Joins Board

British commercial insurance broker REALLY HONEST has decided to no longer provide insurance quotes for companies involved in producing or selling animal-based products. This new policy comes as the firm appoints Andy Shovel, co-founder of THIS, as a non-executive director and advisor. The broker is taking a stand against industries they believe cause harm, including weapons, fossil fuels, animal captivity for entertainment, deforestation, and destructive mining.

This decision has financial implications for REALLY HONEST, as the food and beverage sector, which includes animal-based products, is one of its larger client segments. Despite the potential revenue loss, the company is committed to only working with businesses that align with their values. The rebranded broker, formerly known as Fuelled Group, is also implementing other changes such as absorbing costs for small claims and sharing broker-to-insurer correspondence with clients during the claims process. With a Certified B Corporation status, REALLY HONEST is aiming to support plant-based founders in their efforts to provide alternatives to animal products.
