The policy paper, titled “Replacing Animals In Science,” outlines a plan to phase out animal testing, with key plans including ending regulatory animal testing for skin and eye irritation by 2026 and ceasing pharmacokinetic testing on dogs and primates by 2030. Animal rights groups have welcomed the strategy as a step forward, but some have suggested that the government's plan does not go far enough and should be underpinned by a clear timeline, firm targets, and binding legislation to fully eliminate animal testing in science.
