UK Vegan Cheese Brand Julienne Bruno Acquired Out of Administration by The Compleat Food Group

British vegan cheese brand Julienne Bruno, known for its dairy-free Italian cheeses, has been acquired by The Compleat Food Group’s Harvey & Brockless, after falling into administration and laying off all 14 employees. Founder Axel Katalan, who declined to comment on the firm’s challenges, will continue to support the brand as a consultant to Compleat. Despite raising over £6M, Julienne Bruno has been incurring heavy losses, with net losses totaling £5.1M in 2024.

The sale of Julienne Bruno to Compleat will allow the brand to continue under new ownership and deliver to its customers. The acquisition adds Julienne Bruno's innovative and high-quality plant-based products to Compleat’s expanding portfolio of chilled foods, joining meat-free brand Squeaky Bean and fermented condiment maker Vadasz. This acquisition marks another instance of consolidation in the plant-based category as the alternative protein sector struggles with a lack of investment and sales.
