Umami Bioworks and Friends & Family Set to Pilot Cultivated Seafood Pet Food Across Europe and Asia

Umami Bioworks and Friends & Family Pet Food Company have entered into a partnership to pilot cultivated pet food in select international markets, focusing on introducing sustainable, high-quality protein sources for pets, particularly cultivated seafood. The initiative will begin in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, aiming to establish cultivated seafood as a key component in pet nutrition. Umami Bioworks has successfully registered two cultivated seafood ingredients for use in pet food across the European Union and plans for further product launches in 2026 to meet the rising demand for innovative and sustainable pet food products in the region.

In Asia, Friends & Family Pet Food Company has become the first to receive approval from Singapore’s Animal & Veterinary Services to sell cultivated meat products for dogs and cats, sourced from the cells of Kampung chickens native to Malaysia and Indonesia. This approval follows recent regulatory advancements in the United States for cultivated meat products. The company plans to debut cultivated meat for pet food in eight different SKUs later this year, with more products in development, capitalizing on the growing market trend for innovative and sustainable pet food products in Europe and Asia.
