UMAMI Bioworks Signs MoU With Nippon Barrier Free to Bring Cultivated Marine Ingredients to Cosmetics & Supplement Market

UMAMI Bioworks, a Singaporean cultivated seafood producer, has partnered with Japanese company Nippon Barrier Free to bring cultivated marine ingredients to the cosmetics and supplements market. Nippon Barrier Free will serve as UMAMI Bioworks' sales and distribution partner across Japan and 18 other countries for cosmetic and supplement ingredients. UMAMI Bioworks' cultivated marine ingredients have the potential to revolutionize health, beauty, and wellness applications, including the development of animal-free polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) from various species.

In recent developments, UMAMI Bioworks launched a new line of cultivated marine supplements under its Marine Radiance brand and partnered with Qurio, a beauty and wellness incubator. The collaboration resulted in the launch of a commercial product powered by MRX1, a marine-based active ingredient that improves skin health. Additionally, UMAMI Bioworks introduced an AI-powered Virtual Marine Cell, allowing researchers to simulate and predict the behavior of aquatic cells. The partnership with Nippon Barrier Free aims to pioneer a new category of sustainable marine ingredients, pushing the boundaries of ocean-inspired innovation for the benefit of people and the planet.
