Updated EAT-Lancet Commission Will Reveal How to Feed a Growing Population Within Planetary Boundaries

The 2025 EAT-Lancet Commission will provide an updated scientific review on how to feed a growing population within planetary boundaries. Set to be published in The Lancet and launched at the EAT Stockholm Food Forum, the report will address the transformation of the global food system while promoting justice and equity. It will consider new evidence in areas such as agricultural and livestock practices, economic modeling, health, social justice, and the impact of food systems on planetary boundaries, emphasizing the importance of adapting healthy diets to regional contexts.

The Commission, co-chaired by Walter Willet, Johan Rockström, and Shakuntala Thilsted, will feature scenario-based modeling and a focus on food justice to promote equity and human rights across the food system. The official launch on October 3, 2025, will present key findings, host discussions on translating science into policy, and is expected to have a significant impact on global nutrition recommendations. It is a collaborative effort involving 24 Commissioners from 17 countries, aiming to bring renewed scientific clarity to the challenge of feeding a growing population sustainably.
