Upton’s Breakroom and Liberation Donuts Merge, Start Incubator to Help Emerging Vegan Brands

Upton’s Naturals has merged its cafe and vegan donut shop in Chicago to create a new vegan restaurant called Liberation Kitchen. The new eatery combines comfort food from Upton’s Breakroom with gourmet vegan donuts from Liberation Donuts, offering familiar favorites such as bacon mac ‘n’ cheese, hot dogs, and nachos, as well as oat milk soft-serve, donut sundaes, and milkshakes for dessert. Located at 2054 W Grand Ave, the restaurant operates daily from 11am-7:30pm, opening at 9am on weekends for donuts and drinks.

In addition to serving their own food, Upton’s Naturals has started a mentorship program for emerging vegan brands in the industry. Each month, Liberation Kitchen will feature food from local vegan businesses, with September showcasing vegan sushi brand Snackie Chan Chicago. Customers can pick up grab-and-go sushi specials daily and pre-order hot items like bao and wontons for the entire month.
