Vegan Actor James Cromwell Says ‘Don’t Buy Cage-Free Eggs’

Vegan actor James Cromwell is urging people not to buy cage-free eggs, stating that the label is misleading and does not truly improve the welfare of the chickens. In a video for PETA, Cromwell debunks the cage-free "lie" and advocates for vegan egg alternatives instead.

Cromwell, known for his activism for social justice, the environment, and animals, stresses the importance of going vegan to truly help chickens and reduce the environmental impact of egg farming. The UK government is considering a phase-out of caged egg farming, with studies showing that organic, free-range egg farming may be twice as harmful to the environment. A reduction in egg consumption may lead to improved environmental outcomes and animal welfare.
