Vegan Brand The Tofoo Co Acquired By Comitis Capital

German investment management firm Comitis Capital has acquired The Tofoo Co, the UK's second biggest meat-free brand known for its tofu, tempeh, and seitan products. The brand, founded in 2015, has achieved success with its natural ingredient focus and high-quality products, leading to rising revenue and value sales reaching £20.2 million in 2023. Comitis Capital plans to expand The Tofoo Co further, with Managing Partner Nikolaus Bethlen stating that the brand is ready for its next stage of growth.

Despite negative media coverage of plant-based alternatives, The Tofoo Co has seen increased sales in recent years. Co-founders Lydia Smith and David Knibbs will remain invested in the company, as Comitis Capital steps in to support the brand's growth trajectory. With plans to grow with existing and new customers, The Tofoo Co is poised for continued success in the plant-based meat alternatives market under its new ownership.
