Vegan Footballer Wins BBC Green Sport Awards, Says ‘With Power Comes Responsibility’

Vegan footballer Hector Bellerin was awarded the Global Champion title at the BBC Green Sport Awards for his advocacy for sustainability and green initiatives. Bellerin, who plays for Spain’s Real Betis, has been vegan since 2016 and continues to champion environmental causes within the sports industry.

As Chief Ambassador for Real Betis’ “Forever Green” initiative, Bellerin leads efforts to promote recycling, green mobility, and reforestation within the club. He has also invested in Forest Green Rovers, a vegan football club, and launched his own sustainable brand, Gospel Estudios.
