Vegan McFlurry: McDonald’s Rolls Out Dairy-Free Ice Cream in the UK

McDonald's is launching a new line of dairy-free ice creams in the UK, with a potential nationwide launch expected in 2025. The vegan Scoop ice creams, available in Chocolate and Strawberry flavors, are made from rice milk and certified by the Vegetarian Society. They are currently being trialed in 52 locations in the northwest of England and are described by McDonald's as "deliciously smooth and creamy".

In addition to the vegan Scoop, McDonald's is also testing the McFreezy, a frozen ice dessert, in select locations in the northwest and Ireland. The new plant-based offerings mark McDonald's first foray into the non-dairy world in the UK and come at a time when vegan ice cream sales in the country have been on the decline. It will be interesting to see how these new dairy-free options perform in the market compared to their dairy counterparts.
