Vegan meat brand Heura has successfully raised €40 million in a funding round, marking the largest plant-based funding round in 2023. With plans to transform the global food system, the Spanish company aims to use its unique technology to strengthen its position in the industry. Heura, known for its innovative plant-based products made from legumes, has seen rapid growth in Spain and beyond, with a presence in over ten countries including the UK, Austria, and Mexico.

The funding round included investors such as Upfield and Unovis Asset Management, who will help Heura push the boundaries of plant-based food technology and accelerate innovations in plant-based cheese. CEO Marc Coloma emphasized the importance of leveraging disruptive technology to drive the protein transition and empower the entire food industry with innovation.
