Vegan Pasty Wins ‘Pasty Of The Year’ At British Pie Awards

The British Pie Awards 2025 crowned a plant-based pasty from The Phat Pasty Company as the "Pasty Of The Year." The Keralan Cauliflower, Chickpea & Onion Bhaji Pasty beat 17 other pasties to win the prestigious award. The pasty, made of cauliflower, chickpeas, onion bhajis, and Indian spices, has been a best-seller since its launch in 2018 and is the first-ever plant-based pasty to hit the market.

Although not a vegan brand, The Phat Pasty Company offers a range of vegan products, including its Steak-Less Pasty, Butternut Squash & Vegan Feta Pasty, Vegan Mushroom and Bourgignon Pie, and Spicy Cauliflower & Spinach Balti Pie. The British Pie Awards are highly regarded in the UK pie sector, with more than 900 entries this year. The pasty category, sponsored by Hankyu from Japan, awarded the winner a pop-up in-store at Hankyu's British Fair in October. The award-winning pasty is available online and in cafes across the UK.
