Vegetarian for Life to Host 2025 Awards at UK Parliament Honouring Plant-Based Care Catering

Vegetarian for Life (VfL) will host its annual Awards for Excellence in Veg*n Care Catering at the UK Parliament on October 22, 2025. The event aims to recognize individuals and organizations working to improve plant-based catering standards in care homes and other later-life care settings. Categories include Vegan/Vegetarian Care Caterer of the Year and Most Innovative Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe, among others. Entries are open until August 15, with a focus on the increasing demand for plant-based diets among older adults.

VfL, a charity supporting older vegans and vegetarians, also announced Chef Alex, one of its Roving Chefs, winning a regional cooking competition with all vegan dishes. The organization advocates for nutritionally adequate and ethically aligned plant-based meals for older residents, providing training, accreditation, and policy support to care providers. VfL aims to have one in every six UK care homes listed in their directory by 2030, continuing to campaign for improved legal recognition of plant-based diets in care settings.
