Violife Launches ‘Market-First’ High-Protein Cheddar Alternative

Violife has launched the UK’s first high-protein vegan cheddar, Supreme Cheddarton, which contains 30 percent less fat than dairy and is described as a "good source of protein." The Greek brand, known for its plant-based cheese products, aims to cater to evolving consumer preferences by offering a vegan cheese with a crumbly yet creamy texture, a rich taste, and the ability to melt beautifully.

According to Violife's head of Global Brand & Violife North America, Monica Bordin, the new Supreme Cheddarton cheese is the result of extensive research and development to provide consumers with a product that combines nutrition, taste, and texture. With 2.9g of protein per 30g serving and derived from lentils, the high-protein vegan cheddar stands out in the market where only three percent of plant-based cheese products contain 5g or more of protein. The global vegan cheese market is expected to grow significantly, and Violife's Supreme Cheddarton aims to offer consumers a great-tasting plant-based option without compromising on texture or flavor.

Supreme Cheddarton will be available from major UK retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Ocado, starting from July 1, 2025, at a price of £2.95 per 200g block. The launch of this high-protein vegan cheddar represents a breakthrough moment in the plant-based cheese industry, providing a product that not only satisfies consumer cravings but also offers real nutritional benefits.
