Voyage Foods Secures $22M in Funding, as LCA Claims It Makes the ‘Most Sustainable Chocolates Ever’

California-based CPG startup Voyage Foods has secured $22M in funding and released the results of a life-cycle assessment showing that its cocoa-free chocolate produces up to 88% fewer GHG emissions compared to traditional chocolate. The company, known for its ethical and eco-friendly pantry staples, plans to use the investment to scale up manufacturing and launch new products.

Voyage Foods' chocolate alternatives made from a blend of grape seeds, sunflower protein, RSPO-certified palm oil, and shea kernel oil have been deemed the most sustainable chocolates ever by an independent LCA. The study showed that the cocoa-free milk and semi-sweet chocolates emit significantly lower GHG emissions and use much less water compared to conventional chocolates. With the rising concerns about the environmental impact of cocoa production, alternatives like Voyage Foods are becoming increasingly important in the market.
