Welsh Grand National-Winning Trainer Jailed For GBH With Intent

Evan Williams, a Welsh Grand National-winning horse trainer, has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting Martin Dandridge, 72, with a hockey stick on his land in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan. Dandridge suffered a broken arm and ongoing pain as a result of the attack. Williams claimed he was reacting to Dandridge allegedly illegally entering his property to "lamp," but the jury unanimously convicted him after a short deliberation.

The incident has had a lasting negative physical and mental impact on Dandridge, who reported feeling like a different person since the assault. Williams, known for training Secret Reprieve, the 2020 Welsh Grand National winner, has trained over 650 racehorses.
