Wicked Kitchen Just Bought A Second Vegan Seafood Company

Plant-based food brand Wicked Kitchen has recently acquired vegan seafood manufacturer Current Foods, known for its innovative sushi-grade salmon and tuna alternatives. This acquisition comes shortly after the merger with Good Catch, another alt-seafood company, in September 2022. By acquiring Current Foods, Wicked Kitchen gains access to the plant-based sushi market and strengthens its commitment to creating sustainable and environmentally friendly food options.

The growing consumer awareness of the environmental impact of traditional seafood production has fueled the expansion of the plant-based seafood market. Predicted to reach $1.3 billion by 2031, this sector is experiencing rapid growth as more individuals opt for ethical and sustainable food choices. Wicked Kitchen, originally launched as a Tesco in-house brand in 2018, has since expanded globally and offers a diverse range of plant-based products, including frozen meals, wraps, and plant-based meat slices, catering to a wide consumer base across different regions.
