Wide Open Agriculture Lines Up Proeon as Contract Manufacturer for Lupin Ingredients
Vegconomist • Aug 10, 2026
Australian ingredient company Wide Open Agriculture has signed a non-binding framework agreement with Dutch-Indian plant protein manufacturer Proeon Foods, setting terms for a potential contract manufacturing deal covering WOA’s lupin-based ingredients. The agreement establishes intellectual property protections and operating principles for a future contract, with Proeon potentially gaining exclusive rights to distribute WOA’s lupin products in India.
The agreement comes as WOA transitions from owner-operated production to a more capital-light model, with plans to outsource output to locations in Asia. Proeon's production base in India aligns with this objective, and the company's interest in WOA's lupin technology highlights the potential for a future manufacturing and marketing partnership between the two entities, as they work towards jointly progressing technical and commercial objectives in the plant protein space.
