Wild Boar Attacks in Barcelona Down 70% in the Last Two Years

Wild boar attacks in Barcelona have decreased by 70% in the last two years due to non-lethal methods implemented by authorities. The decline in incidents of boar-human conflicts is attributed to measures such as protecting garbage containers, banning watering gardens in the Collserola mountain, and capturing and relocating some wild boars. The expansion of irrigated land had led the boars to move closer to the city in search of food, but these efforts have helped reduce such incidents.

Districts closer to the mountains, including Collserola and Montjuïc, have seen a significant decrease in feral pig incidents, with a drop in the number of reports related to the presence of wild boars. Experts believe that the decrease in incidents is a result of the changes in farming practices and the measures taken by the authorities to address the issue.
