With Bold Net-Zero Commitments, Governments Around the World are Developing Plant-Based Meat Products

Governments around the world, such as Taiwan and Saudi Arabia, are taking bold steps to support the plant-based meat industry by developing plant-based meat products. Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has announced a startup to produce whole cuts of plant-based meat using innovative technology. This aligns with Taiwan's push towards a low-carbon economy and promotion of plant-forward diets as part of its net-zero ambitions.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia has signed agreements with companies to produce vegan alternatives to meat and dairy to promote a healthy food culture among its citizens. Despite having one of the highest meat consumptions per capita, Saudi Arabia is also aiming for a net-zero target by 2060. These initiatives are part of a global trend where governments are increasingly investing in and promoting the development of alternative protein sources to tackle climate change and promote sustainability in the food industry.
