A farm in Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, has become the world's first to produce cultivated meat through a collaboration between RespectFarms and dairy farmer Corné van Leeuwen. Supported by the European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability and the Province of Zuid-Holland, the project aims to integrate cultivated food production into traditional farming operations. Van Leeuwen is the first farmer to receive agricultural funding for cultivated meat production, thanks to EIP-Agri's focus on accelerating agricultural innovation in Europe.

RespectFarms, a startup promoting a farm-integrated approach to cultivated meat production, plans to open an Experience Centre at van Leeuwen's farm in spring 2026 to engage farmers, stakeholders, policymakers, and the public. The initiative by the CRAFT Consortium, including RespectFarms and other partners, aims to keep livestock farmers central in food production while transitioning to more sustainable protein sources. The goal is to make the protein transition fair, transparent, and supportive of rural communities through the development of resilient food systems.
