York Pork: Heura Debuts Clean-Label Plant-Based Deli Ham Slices in Spain and France

Spanish plant-based meat company Heura has launched vegan York-style deli ham slices in Spain and France. Made from 11 ingredients including soy protein isolate, extra-virgin olive oil, natural flavorings, radish, carrot, paprika, and lemon concentrates, the ham boasts a 64% protein density and 0.9g of saturated fat per 100g. Heura's emphasis on providing additive-free products aligns with consumer preferences for clean-label foods, as indicated by a global survey by Ingredion.

With the aim of offering a more nutritionally complete alternative to conventional deli meat, Heura's plant-based ham carries a B rating on the Nutri-Score scale. Leveraging patent-pending technology, the company is able to create vegan products with superior sensory and nutritional values using minimal ingredients. Future plans include expanding to more European markets and introducing a lineup of other plant-based products like vegan cheeses.
