The role of a plant-based food system in helping to reduce carbon emissions, however, typically went unacknowledged. The Plant-Based Councils (PBC) campaign aims to change that. Recognising the role that councils can play in facilitating and normalising plant-based food, it has successfully secured commitments from 13 councils to pass plant-based motions or policies, with many committing to 100% plant-based catering for all internal meetings and events. This talk will cover: The environmental importance of switching to a plant-based food system The strategic decision to focus on councils How councils and councillors are approached about the campaign You will also learn how you can help the campaign at different levels of involvement, from emailing your local councillor to starting your own PBC chapter.
