Campaign to Free the Union Street Beagles Charles River Laboratories 55 Union Street, Worcester, Mass. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE LINKS IN BIO TO JOIN CAMPAIGN TO FREE THE UNION STREET BEAGLES Charles River Laboratories, which experiments on over 9,000 dogs company wide including approximately 150-180 beagles inside this facility, advertises that they buy their 'research' beagles from USDA licenced Class A breeding facilities. These 'farms' like Ridglan and Marshall are actually factory farms where they breed 'research' beagles by the thousands. Why do they specifically breed beagles for this purpose? Well, because they are a particularly, trusting, loving, gentle and forgiving animal that rarely bites, even when someone hurts them. Over and over. After spending months or even years in tiny wire cages inside the windowless sheds at these breeding facilities hidden away in the countryside in places like Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, or North Rose, N.Y., the dogs are purchased by contract research organizations (CROs) like Charles River Laboratories. They are then driven in windowless climate controlled vehicles to vivisection laboratories around the country like this one on Union Street in downtown Worcester, where their situation becomes even more dire. This is where they undergo horrific experiments, paid for by companies like Merck and Pfizer, over and over again until they are too sick to go on, at which point they are almost all killed and dissected. What the fuck kind of system is that? A bad one I'd like to see change. Please come join a peaceful educational awareness protest EVERY Saturday from noon-4 outside this CRL facility at 55 Union Street in Worcester. I'll be here every Saturday until CRL agrees to stop canine testing at this facility and make arrangements for every dog inside to receive immediate emergency veterinary care, paid for by CRL, and work with verified rescues to adopt out all dogs or cats in this building. #FreeTheUnionStreetDogs #freethecharlesriverdogs www.change.org/FreeTheCharlesRiverDogs
