Street Outreach (Amsterdam)

November 1, 2026

Join us on the streets of Amsterdam and help start positive conversations about veganism. Whether you have done outreach before or are completely new to it, you are very welcome to take part. We talk to non-vegans about the reasons for going vegan using an approach designed to reduce defensiveness and keep conversations open, positive, and energizing. The goal is to help people reflect on their choices and feel motivated to make meaningful changes for animals. We believe this approach is not only more effective and better aligned with modern psychological research, but also more sustainable for you as an activist. Outreach should leave you feeling energized rather than drained. THE SOCIAL EXPERIMENT Vegan Future does not prescribe exactly how you should do street outreach. However, we do have a method that we continuously refine: the Social Experiment. The conversation follows three basic phases: 1. Establish common ground around shared moral values 2. Show what really happens to animals in animal agriculture 3. Encourage a concrete and achievable commitment to change You can read the full script here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18t-03QYYdq2I9VuG4QgYzx8TYjX9Z7__pwjI3axCnqY/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.3ksykvu4jgbr You do not need to memorize the script. You will pick it up quickly through practice, and you can shadow an experienced outreacher before having conversations on your own. LANGUAGE In Amsterdam, we meet a lot of tourists, so English will be our main language. If you speak another foreign language besides English, please let us know. If we meet someone who does not speak English, we can connect them with you. MATERIALS We bring everything you need and provide hands-on training during the event. You will receive a street outreach kit containing all the materials you need. DRESS CODE Since you will be advocating for animals, try to look clean, presentable, and approachable, like someone people can easily relate to. IMPORTANT: Please do not wear animal products, even if they are second-hand or something you bought before becoming vegan. Some non-vegans may focus on this instead of the conversation itself, using an appeal to hypocrisy, so it is best to avoid giving them that distraction. HOW TO JOIN If you would like to take part, please join our Signal group first: https://signal.group/#CjQKIIejwwWrcfw4uWRdv3M7oZx34HM9H-uvcTnxZeY-K6EBEhC4bsMUN5MbkflmSieu8LxD In the Signal group, you will receive the latest updates in case anything changes. We can also give you personal guidance, answer questions, and we usually run a poll there to see who will be joining each outreach event.
