BeneMeat Opens Pilot Plant to Czech Meat Industry Body in Bid to Frame Cultivated Cells as a Complement, Not a Rival

Czech biotech company BeneMeat hosted a delegation from the Czech Meat Processors Association at its pilot production facility to position cultivated cell technology as a complement to traditional processors’ product lines, rather than a rival. The company operates as a technology provider, selling cell lines, media, and bioprocess systems to manufacturers, aiming to expand traditional product portfolios in the future.

During the meeting, discussions were held on product nomenclature, with BeneMeat using the term cultivated cells on their packaging to comply with legislation. CEO Roman Kříž pressed for policy support for cultivated meat technology, contrasting European progress with the US and China. The Meat Processors Association emphasized the importance of professional debate and transparency to objectively assess new technologies in the food industry.
