Faunalytics Executive Director Brooke Haggerty to Step Down in January as Board Opens Search for Successor

Brooke Haggerty, the executive director of animal advocacy research nonprofit Faunalytics, is stepping down from her position on January 15, 2027. The organization's board is currently accepting applications for her successor until October 18. Haggerty joined Faunalytics in January 2020 and has since overseen significant growth, with the staff increasing from four employees to 13, and the organization now boasting more than 6,000 entries in its research library.

In her announcement of her departure, Haggerty emphasized the importance of leadership turnover in advocacy organizations and called for boards and funders to provide paid sabbatical leave to leaders to prevent burnout. She expressed pride in her time at Faunalytics but acknowledged the need for a break and a new direction. Haggerty's successor will inherit a strategic plan, an established leadership team, and financial stability to facilitate a smooth transition, as the organization looks forward to welcoming its next visionary leader.
