Veganuary, a popular campaign encouraging people to give up animal products for the month of January, is going global in 2025, expanding to three new countries: Peru, Malaysia, and Canada. The organization launched a new campaign highlighting the ethical and environmental impacts of animal-based foods to motivate more people to participate. The new year also brings a wave of plant-based products to restaurants and grocery stores, with Starbucks introducing a dairy-free cortado and vegan falafel pocket, and Papa John's adding a vegan Hawaiian pizza featuring plant-based ham.

In the US, a survey found that Asian Americans are most likely to try a plant-based diet in 2025, while renowned plant-based advocate Dr. Michael Greger is making an appearance in a vegan zombie film. Additionally, Aldi in the UK is expanding its Veganuary range with products like plant-based liquid eggs and deep-fried pickles. Beyond Meat's Beyond Steak has also landed in UK fast-casual restaurants for the first time, offering a plant-based option in the form of a Beyond Steak Chimichurri Burrito until February 6.
