German Protein Alliance Launches to Push Stalled Protein Projects Into the Market
Vegconomist • Oct 14, 2026
The German Protein Alliance, launched by the Deutsche Protein Allianz e. V., aims to connect stakeholders from various sectors to develop value chains for new protein solutions in Germany. The alliance recognizes that many good product ideas fail to reach the market due to a lack of connections between stakeholders, knowledge, infrastructure, and demand. By identifying where value chains break down and setting up collaborations between partners, the alliance plans to support specific projects from initial idea to market launch, producing solutions that can be applied to other regions and market segments.
The alliance's focus includes animal proteins, plant-based and non-animal proteins, and combined protein products. It does not currently pursue projects involving animal proteins alone, but rather hybrid products that incorporate a mix of protein sources. With an interdisciplinary advisory board in place to assess projects and improve their transferability, the alliance is funded by philanthropic foundations that are dedicated to supporting its establishment and ongoing work.
